Santa Clara County Certification, Accreditation and Credentialing
EMT Certification Initial, Paramedic and EMT Accreditation Initial, Nurse EMS System Accreditation Initial, government identification verification and personnel photographing will be conducted at the EMS Agency between 8:30am - 1:00pm and 2:00pm - 4:00pm. Appointments are no longer required, please simply walk-in.
Livescans should only be completed after you have applied for a certification, or accreditation. If a livescan is needed, the EMS Agency will send you the form for completion.
Please note that the EMS Agency Office will be closed on all County and National Holidays.
Credentialing
Obtaining your EMT is a three-step process.
- You must pass an EMT course
- Take and pass the National Registry of EMTs (NREMT) cognitive and psychomotor exams.
- You then must apply for California EMT certification through a local EMS Agency.

If yes, you will need to apply for EMT accreditation (Initial). Please review and complete the following:
Are you continuing employment with the same ambulance provider or fire department in Santa Clara County, and is your EMT accreditation expiring in the next 6 months?
If yes, you will need to apply for EMT accreditation (Renewal). Please review and complete the following:
Are you currently a Paramedic in the State of California and are looking to become an accredited paramedic in Santa Clara County?
If yes, please review and complete the following:
Are you looking to maintain continuous Santa Clara County Paramedic Accreditation?
