Jackie Lowther, RN, MSN, MBA, joined SCVMC in November 2010 as the Director of Critical Care, Emergency Department and Perioperative Nursing. Her career expands almost 40 years in Emergency, Critical Care and Administration. She is a transitional leader with a strong clinical background in emergency services, as well as progressive leadership experience in operations management, quality and performance improvement, staff development, physician relations for major academic medical centers and community hospitals for non-profit and for-profit healthcare systems. Her focus is on improving clinical operations as well as team building. Jackie began her career in Texas as an Emergency room Technician, staff nurse, paramedic, paramedic trainer and ICU nurse. Upon moving to the Bay area, she took on the role of Emergency Department Director and then Chief Nursing Officer prior to her arrival at VMC. One thing that has remained constant throughout her career is that her passion for patients remains the same today as it was 4 decades ago. She is committed to excellence in healthcare and her goal is to enhance patient care in any capacity she works. She has received awards from the Silicon Valley YWCA, California, Legislative Service Award, Good Samaritan Hospital, Sigma Theta Tau and San Antonio EMS. She has a son who is a Dallas Firefighter/Paramedic/Flight Paramedic, Daughter who is an Emergency Room Nurse, 6 grandchildren and “puppy” named Biscuit and one name Lacie she is also a NASCAR enthusiast and hopes to make it to the Kentucky Derby one day.
